Peloponnese – Sports, Golf, Wellness & Costa Navarino

The Peloponnese is one of Greece’s most diverse travel destinations, combining Mediterranean coastline, mountains, historic sites, traditional towns and a wide range of sports and outdoor activities. The region is particularly attractive for individual travellers, sports groups, training camps, golf holidays, tennis trips, wellness stays and MICE events.

One of the outstanding destinations in the southwest of the Peloponnese is Costa Navarino in Messinia. The high-end resort destination combines luxury hotels with golf, tennis, water sports, wellness, outdoor activities, gastronomy and conference facilities in an extensive Mediterranean setting.

Hotels in the Peloponnese

The Peloponnese offers a wide range of accommodation, from traditional hotels and seaside resorts to luxury properties and large integrated resort destinations.

Costa Navarino is particularly interesting for demanding sports and leisure groups. The destination currently includes four five-star resorts: The Romanos, a Luxury Collection Resort, The Westin Resort Costa Navarino, W Costa Navarino and Mandarin Oriental, Costa Navarino.

For sports groups, the combination of accommodation, sports facilities, restaurants, wellness and leisure activities within one destination can be particularly convenient.

Costa Navarino

Costa Navarino is located in Messinia in the southwest of the Peloponnese, overlooking the Ionian Sea and the historic Bay of Navarino.

The destination covers several resort areas and combines luxury accommodation with four 18-hole golf courses, tennis, wellness, conference facilities, water sports and numerous outdoor activities.

Golf

Golf is one of the major attractions of the Peloponnese and particularly of Costa Navarino.

Costa Navarino has four signature 18-hole golf courses spread across the destination: The Dunes Course, The Bay Course, the International Olympic Academy Golf Course and The Hills Course. The courses are set in the landscapes of Messinia, combining golf with views of the sea, mountains, olive groves and countryside.

The region is therefore suitable for individual golf holidays as well as golf groups, golf clubs, tournaments and golf training trips.

Tennis & Sports

Costa Navarino has developed into a major multi-sport destination. The Mouratoglou Tennis Center offers professional tennis coaching, training programmes, private lessons and programmes for different age groups and playing levels.

The wider destination also offers football, basketball, cycling, outdoor activities, diving, snorkeling, sailing and other sports. Costa Navarino works with international sports partners and hosts sporting events including endurance competitions.

Beyond Costa Navarino, the Peloponnese offers excellent opportunities for hiking, cycling, water sports, diving and other outdoor activities.

Water Sports

The Ionian coastline around Costa Navarino provides excellent conditions for water-based activities. Depending on season and conditions, activities include stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, sailing, diving and snorkeling.

The wider Peloponnese also offers numerous coastal destinations for swimming, sailing, diving and other marine activities.

The Navarino Bay area is particularly interesting for diving and marine experiences, while the beaches around Pylos and Gialova provide a combination of swimming, relaxation and water sports.

Wellness & Spa

Wellness is an important part of the Costa Navarino concept. The destination includes several spa and wellness centres offering treatments, relaxation and programmes focused on health and wellbeing.

The combination of sport, spa, Mediterranean climate, nature and healthy local cuisine makes the Peloponnese suitable for active holidays as well as recovery and wellness programmes.

MICE & Corporate Events

The Peloponnese is also suitable for meetings, incentives, conferences and corporate events.

Costa Navarino combines premium accommodation with conference and event facilities, restaurants, sports activities, wellness and outdoor experiences. This makes it possible to combine business programmes with golf, tennis, team activities, water sports or wellness.

The destination is particularly suitable for incentives, management meetings, corporate retreats, team-building programmes and international events.

Beaches & Leisure

The Peloponnese has an extensive coastline with sandy beaches, secluded coves and historic coastal towns.

Around Pylos and Costa Navarino, Romanos Beach, Voidokilia, Gialova Beach and Divari/Golden Beach are among the best-known coastal areas. Kalamata is another important destination, combining a long city beach with restaurants, cafés, cultural attractions and a lively waterfront.

Culture & Excursions

The Peloponnese is ideal for combining sport and relaxation with sightseeing.

Important destinations and attractions include Ancient Olympia, Nafplio, Epidaurus, Mystras, Monemvasia, Pylos and the historic Bay of Navarino. The region combines archaeological sites, castles, traditional villages, mountains and coastal landscapes.

For sports groups and MICE programmes, excursions can therefore easily be combined with training, golf, conferences or leisure days.

Arrival

Kalamata International Airport is the most convenient airport for many destinations in southwestern Peloponnese and the Messinia region. Kalamata is approximately 8 km from the city centre, while Athens International Airport provides another important gateway to the Peloponnese.

Costa Navarino is located in Messinia in the southwest of the peninsula. Transfers from Kalamata Airport are particularly convenient for hotel guests travelling to the Costa Navarino resorts.

Tourist Information

The Peloponnese is suitable for travel throughout much of the year, with the main summer season focused on beach holidays and the warmer months. Spring and autumn are particularly attractive for golf, tennis, cycling, hiking, sightseeing and sports groups.
