Enjoy a memorable summer bike and boat holiday between Venice and Treviso, combining cycling, boat travel, beaches and fascinating islands. The journey takes you to beautiful coastal landscapes and peaceful places where life seems to move at a slower pace, including the charming village of Lio Piccolo.
Each day offers a different setting for swimming and relaxation. Cruise between destinations and cycle along the coast, discovering the long sandy beaches of Pellestrina, the Bacan, Lido and Cavallino. The route also takes you by bike to the islands of Albarella and Sant’Erasmo, with scenic rides beside the water along the Via delle Valli and following the River Sile towards Treviso.

The boat takes you to Cavanella d’Adige, where you begin the day’s cycling adventure towards the island of Albarella. Enjoy some time by the sea before a short boat journey to Moceniga, the starting point for a spectacular ride along the Via delle Valli.
This scenic route is regarded as one of the most impressive cycling landscapes in Italy and Europe. The ride follows the embankment through a fascinating world of waterways, reed beds and traditional fishing landscapes, passing distinctive water gardens, historic casoni fishing huts and traditional cavane boat shelters.
Continue by bike to Chioggia, often called “Little Venice”, with its colourful fishing quarter and lively historic centre. After exploring the town, return to Pellestrina for the night.

After breakfast, cruise to Punta Sabbioni, located at the end of the Cavallino-Treporti peninsula where the Venetian Lagoon meets the Adriatic Sea. Once ashore with your bikes, cycle into the peaceful lagoon landscape around Lio Piccolo, a fascinating little hamlet surrounded by vegetable gardens, waterways and traditional fish farms.
The route continues beside the lagoon on a spectacular new cantilevered cycle path, offering wonderful views across the water. Afterwards, enjoy time for swimming and relaxation at Cavallino, one of the area’s most popular sandy beaches.
The boat spends the night moored in Burano or in the surrounding area.

The day begins with a relaxing cruise to Portegrandi. After approximately one hour, leave the boat and start cycling towards Treviso along the scenic Sile River.
Depending on the day’s schedule, there is an opportunity for a refreshing swim at the public swimming pool in Casale sul Sile. Continue towards Casier and the atmospheric Cimitero dei Burci, where the partially submerged remains of large wooden boats can still be seen. These traditional cargo vessels were once used to transport goods along the Sile and remained in service until the 1970s.
The final destination is Treviso, a charming city known for its waterways, small canals and historic mills. Explore the city by bike before returning to the boat.

After leaving Treviso by bike, follow the Sile River towards Portegrandi along peaceful towpaths. After around an hour of cruising, the boat enters the Venetian Lagoon and continues towards Burano. The island is famous for its colourful houses and traditional handmade lace.
Depending on the schedule, enjoy a refreshing swim at the outdoor pool in Casale sul Sile before returning to the boat.
The boat remains overnight in Burano or nearby.

The Ave Maria Portegrandi is a stylish, next-generation electric river barge, built in Italy for cruising the quieter waterways between Mantua, Venice and Grado. We recommend bringing your own reusable water bottle. This is the more environmentally friendly option for staying hydrated during the cycling days.
If you plan to follow the route using the tour App, a smartphone holder that can be securely attached to the handlebars is useful. A power bank is also recommended. The App can be used offline, but additional battery capacity can be helpful during longer cycling days.
For extra comfort, you may wish to bring your own gel saddle cover. The rental bicycle saddles are approximately 17.8 cm (7 inches) wide.

The boat route follows the Canale di Valle, the Venetian Lagoon and the River Sile. The published itinerary provides the planned framework for the journey, but individual stages or overnight locations may occasionally need to be adjusted.
Changes can result from weather conditions, operational requirements or instructions from local authorities. Water levels, unexpected maintenance work on locks or bridges, and other logistical circumstances may affect the planned route. In some cases, individual cycling stages or overnight stops may therefore be modified, or a transfer by bus may become necessary.
Any such decisions are made by the barge captain according to the conditions and safety requirements at the time.
